Title: Love in a Cold Climate

attackfish; the remaining mistakes are mine. A snippet of poetry about plums is loosely adapted from Wang Wei (701-761). The title is stolen from Nancy Mitford, but since she stole it from Orwell, I like think of it more as redistributing the wealth that was appropriated by the upper classes.
Author's Notes: I couldn't shake the feeling that Pakku had an awfully easy redemption. And that Kanna, who made an amazingly brave trip all the way to the other side of the world to avoid marrying him, got quickly turned into the rubber stamp of approval on his emotional growth, without a word about how incredible she and her story were. Man, women get erased awfully fast from stories after doing amazing, high-cost things, while the guys get their dream rewards handed to them in return for not being a total sexist asshat for two episodes. The show got that one kinda wrong. So here's a correction; this is more how that should have gone down.

I'm running a charity meme to benefit the victims of the tornadoes in Oklahoma, and will write fic in exchange for donations to the Red Cross. Three dollars buys you a 100 word drabble. Six dollars buys you either a 200 word drabble, or two 100 word drabbles, your choice. Nine dollars buys you a 300 word drabble, or a 200 word drabble, and a 100 word drabble, or three 100 word drabbles. And so on. I will write as many drabbles as you give money tot he Red Cross. There is no limit to how much you all can get me to write through this meme. I will write for Avatar: the Last Airbender/Legend of Korra, Harry Potter, or White Collar, and all of my previously established AUs are open.

I created

atlaworld an interactive community for Avatar: the Last Airbender and Legend of Korra.

Members are part of one of the four teams of atlaworld and earn points for their team by completing challenges. Type of challenges include: Writing, Graphic/Media, and Games. Members are not required to participate in all challenges - just the challenges that appeal to them.

If anyone wasn't aware of atlaland over at livejournal - this is the same concepts of that but revived. I co-mod the community for two years before I went on hiatus during the pregnancy of my second child. It was very enjoyable to run and to participate before I became a mod. There were many fantastic fanworks that stemmed from writing and graphic/media challenge and that why I wanted to do a revival of the community.

The community is visible for all to see the activities since I moved it to DW. So if anyone would like to investigate on what challenges entail before applying for a team.

Creator Commentary: This is my first and probably only vid (I made it for

atlaland, and decided it really wasn't for me, but I'm proud of the results). While this is a villain song in the original movie, and there is some underlying commentary in here about how all of the Order of the White Lotus members are male (did they leave the recruiting up to Pakku?) this mostly it's just a celebration of how awesome the old guys of Avatar: the Last Airbender are in a genre where adults are usually useless.

I created two new communities - one writing challenge and one icon challenge. Both communities allow any character/pairing for both ATLA and LOK.

Bi-weekly icon challenge:

I will post a new themed every other Monday. People can create and submit up to 4 icons related to the theme.

20 in 20 challenge:

20 icons in 20 days challenge. People create 20 icons for this challenge divided in the following way: 10 themed icons, 5 related to category theme, and 5 artist choice

I post sign-ups (mainly to keep track of who participating) on 1st of each month. On the 11th of the month I post themes/category theme. People have until Midnight Pacific Time on 30th of each month to submit set of icons. (Except February and December)

I will begin these when I do sign-ups for the January round.

Both communities have voting open to anyone. Anyone who appreciate creative atla related works are welcome to join communities even if you do not plan on taking part in the challenges.

Title: Holding This Breath

Summary: The problem with Zuko's exile is that every ocean has become enemy waters for a Fire Nation Prince, and when his ship is captured by the Northern Water Tribe, he has nowhere to turn for help.
Disclaimer: If I owned Avatar: the Last Airbender, I would have somehow found a way to be even meaner to Zuko. I guess it's a good thing I don't own it.

ATLA Land is an interactive online community with challenges and friendly competitions. There are four teams for each of the four nations: Fire Nation, Water Tribe, Earth Kingdom, and Air Nomads. Each season we will have special challenges for the Spring Equinox (Earth), Summer Solstice (Fire), Autumnal Equinox (Air) and the Winter Solstice (Water), among other special themes. Each team will compete for points in order to try and stay ahead of the other teams.

Points are earned when you complete challenges. Some challenges will be larger than others--such as fanfiction challenges with prompts or fanart/graphics challenges. These, obviously, will be worth more points than smaller challenges.

Speaking of smaller challenges, not everything is going to be as time-consuming as fanfiction and graphics. Other challenges will be more like games, such as crossword puzzles and trivia. These will be worth less points, but will most likely be more common and frequent than the larger challenges.

Membership is restricted. In order to join you need to fill out an application here after reading the rules, and then wait to be put on a team. Once one of our moderators has placed you in your spot you will be given an invitation to both the main community (this one) and your sub-community for your team. It's up to you to request to join all the challenge communities!</info spiel>
