Versions of Themselves

I recently re-watched all three books again and suddenly found myself craving a specific type of fic, only I couldn't find anything that fit. That made me wish for a collection of thematic fic lists like [personal profile] painless_j and many others have compiled for HP fandom.

Googling around only found me some multi-topic/multi-pairing rec lists, and that's not what I'm after.

What I want are lists that center on one topic/pairing/kink, so that when I for example crave fic about Iroh's time as a general during the siege of Ba Sing Se I have a collection of links to go through.

I don't mind starting to compile such lists or even start compiling lots of them, but I first wanted to know if there are already some in existence. I'm still a very new fan (only a bit more than half a year into the fandom), so if you know of any such a list, could you point me into the right direction?

Help?

My niece, who has been watching the series with me asked how Toph would see herself. My response was "Noooo! Don't make me want to write fan fiction!" and then I explained the following scenario.

Hello! [personal profile] dancing_serpent was kind enough to point me this way -- the [community profile] avatar_minis comm is about to start its second round and we're currently doing a preliminary poll to try and figure out who to focus on!

The way these things work is that we're modeled after classic ficathons, but we have a very short turnaround time (around ten days) and a very short length requirement (500 words). Each round is centered on a specific character, though we started with a free-for-all round. There wasn't much produced for Round One, but it was all great, and I'd love to get a few more people joining in this time around! So go let us know who you'd like to write (or read!) about, and watch the community for when we start signups in a few days!

My goodness I have used a lot of exclamation points here. Sorry about that. I just get very enthusiastic about this.

Because the "translation" on the wikia looks like it'd been run through google translate 10 years ago, and therefore I am 99.99% sure it is not official, I went ahead and wrote my own Chinese translation that could be sung to the original tune.

I only really got into the series a few weeks ago, but now I'm quite obsessed with it. With that obsession comes a craving for fanfiction, and when I'm not re-watching the episodes again I'm reading story after story.

But while there's a lot of fanfiction out there I can't seem to find what I really want to read, which is Zuko-centric cross-generation slash. Especially the pairings Iroh/Zuko, Hakoda/Zuko, Jee/Zuko, Ozai/Zuko and Zhao/Zuko.

Can you help out a desperate fangirl with recs or links?

Title: Head Games
Author: Dark Puck
Fandom: Avatar: The Last Airbender
Characters: Ichiro, Yui, and Kouji (OCs); Xin Wan and Liu (OCs); Iroh and Zuko
Rating: PG-13
Warning: Mindbending of children; creeptastic and slightly skeevy in early chapters.
Notes: Xin Wan, Liu, and most Dai Li OCs belong to [personal profile] beckyh2112 and are used with her permission and assistance.
Summary: A refugee child in Ba Sing Se is found somewhere she shouldn't be by a Dai Li agent. This proves disastrous for her and her brothers, as they have a secret: they're all from the Fire Nation...

1. Doll | 2. Tin Soldier | 3. Clockwork Boy
4. Cutting the Strings | 5. Stringless Puppet | 6. The Spider | 7. Safe

The chapter links go to my fanfic journal, which is over on Scribbld. Scribbld takes OpenID, which is a wonderful little tool. If, however, you like sticking to familiar ground, Head Games is also on fanfiction.net. The link to that is right here.

On Livejournal, someone has put together an AtLA Land community. It's a friendly competition similar to the House points thing going on in Harry Potter. You get divided up into one of four nations depending on your preference. (I'm Earth Kingdom, for reference.) Each nation has their own team comm to hang out on, as well as the different challenge and related comms.

There's three challenge comms: one for writing, one for graphics/art, and one for games. The first challenges have been a drabble challenge, making a sigtag, and a guessing game respectively. There is some participation requirement, but the games are easy to get your participation in with if writing and graphics/art aren't grabbing you. Also, the mods aren't going to ding you for being gone for real life; it's a "please don't join and ignore this" sort of thing.

Rules and Application.

Was linked to this by [personal profile] ghostdrive, so I'll be quoting her:
"The Primary Colors in 'The Siege of the North"': an Avatar: The Last Airbender picspam popped up in my f-list via [livejournal.com profile] avatar_fans and even if you're not into the series I still think its an entry worth checking out, purely to see the great use of color (or the use of limited color) in animation. The Siege of the North episodes were some of my favorite from the first season of Avatar, and I remember being really impressed by the importance of color used throughout: the bursts of red, blue and yellow tied into the story and really helped pull the viewer in."

So original post is over at [livejournal.com profile] iconnaissances. It's really cool, so I suggest everyone take a look!

So awhile ago I started working on a challengefic for the days of the week, only adapted to Avatar.  *glances up*  Well, obvs. parts of the poem had to be changed, as our days of the week are based in Norse mythos for the most part, which the Avatarverse lacks.  But I think you can figure out what is substituting for what, yes?

On with the fic!
